James Brown has always been the super star of Soul Music. Everybody that is a music lover knew that he is "The Godfather of Soul." He created funk and took it to funkiest places in this universe. I met James Brown in the early sixties when I was on tour in Miami, Florida. Later in life I decided to take a break from gigging up and down the East Coast to accept a 'on air show' at W.U.F.O. I enjoyed playing all of James Brown's records on my radio show. I met with him and became the concert producer in Buffalo. In 1971 I received an opportunity to return to the Recording Industry and I left Buffalo for Los Angeles. My exposure in Hollywood media provided me the offer to do my own TV Show. I needed a guest star for my first show so I contacted James Brown and he agreed to do my show. In 1976 the special "Jimmie Raye The Soul Thing" aired on NBC West Coast markets. I will forever reserve a very special place in my heart for "Soul Brother # 1" James Brown. Jimmie Raye |
